At OrangeMason, we spend a great deal of time thinking about collaborative, digital workplaces and how we can continue to evolve them through technical solutions. We use a lot of productivity and project tools in our own development process, for example when developing the Social Business App and collaborating in our own digital workspace.
One of our vision projects at OrangeMason focuses on how to integrate augmented reality (AR) technology into collaborative, digital environments.
Think scrum boards, multiple shared screens, to-do lists, etc. Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could truly collaborate in separate environments? All the tools, applications, and websites you already use daily could be pulled into your physical work environment, while still being integrated together in one AR environment.
Imagine throwing a scrum board onto a blank wall next to your desk and physically moving items around to reflect your ongoing workflow. We can’t help but think about the impact this technology could make on social collaboration and digital workplaces.
The great thing is that the platforms we work in and the applications we’ve built already support this way of working. And, many companies are already well on their way developing this AR technology. Specific companies we’re watching right now are Meta and MagicLeap; their technology is very promising for these types of applications.
Currently, we’re in the process of developing for these toolkits so that we can start experimenting with the possibilities and experience their full potential for digital workplaces and collaborative environments.
